What’s On
Cycling in Tameside has improved vastly over the last six months since the opening of the new 1km cycle track in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Below you can view a timetable when the cycle track is open for public use. All sessions are staffed by qualified coaches who will have completed British Cycling coaching awards. All coaches will have an up to date first aid certificate, child protection award and enhanced CRB check.
All sessions ran by Tameside Sport Services run in term time only. A limited number of bikes and helmets are available for public use, it is advised to check prior to attending any session with the lead coach that the session is running.

All schools across Tameside whether they be Primary or Secondary have the option for their year 5,6,7 & 8s to access FREE Bikeability training.
Bikeability is Cycling Proficiency for the 21st century and is designed to give young people the skills and confidence to cycle on today’s challenging roads. Comprising of three different levels, Level 1 teaches basic cycling skills, Level 2 gives young people the skills to ride on quiet roads and Level 3 teaches the skills required to safely negotiate major roads and junctions. Any rider, however experienced, will be able to learn something from the course which could make their riding on the road safer and more enjoyable. Every pupil who attends the course will achieve a minimum of a Level 1 award badge with the majority of pupils achieving level 2.
The best part about Bikeability is that Tameside Council Sport Services offer this service totally free of charge and can even provide up to 16 bikes and helmets for trainees to use.
