It is open to representatives of British Cycling, local cycling clubs, PCT, local schools, Tameside Sports Development Unit, Tameside Sports & Physical Activity Alliance and local organisations, such as the Mossley cycling forum, seeking to encourage cycling.

A major asset available for use by these groups is the recently built track at the Roy Oldham Sports Village, Richmond St, Ashton under Lyne. The track is a 1 kilometre closed circuit complete with floodlights suitable for racing, training and a safe environment for use by schools and disabled groups. Access for local people is being established to encourage cycling and cycle training under controlled conditions.

A race league, under British Cycling regulations, is held annually and the circuit may be booked by organisations outside Tameside who wish to make use of the facility.

TCDG in partnership with Tameside Sports Development are regularly involved in the delivery of British Cycling Go-Ride sessions and delivery of Bikeability for children and adults.

Go-Ride is British Cycling's development programme for young people. The programme provides a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and provides a platform to improve bike handling skills. Bikeability is cycling proficiency for the 21st century and is designed to give young people the skills and confidence to cycle on today’s challenging roads. Comprising of three different levels, level 1 teaches basic skills, level 2 gives young people the skills to ride on quiet roads and level 3 teaches the skills required to safely negotiate major roads and junctions. Any rider, however experienced, will be able to learn something from the course which could make their riding on the road safer and more enjoyable.

TCDG are also involved in the training of cycle coaches and the Annual Tameside Triathlon”
